4. It became a hit in Youtube (now it is removed, but you can still watch it here).

Chrome Ads on New York Times

Saturday, May 9th, 2009

Paulius mentioned in his last post about targeted ads. The topic is about strange ads and strange tactics. As we know Chrome is the most advertised Google’s product . But Google doesn’t finish to advertise it. Famous bloggers were shocked by the giant Chrome banner inside NY Times online version !

Does this means, that Google is searching for new users ? Or maybe Chrome is not so popular as expexted ? Onestat says that in March, 2009 approximately 0.67-1.76% of different internet visitors from different countries used Chrome. I think it is quite a little piece of this market where for example appr. 70% of visitors use IE. It may be the start of continiuos strategy to grow Chrome usage. Maybe this hand-painted style of the videos add social sense to the ad and attract bigger attention.

However let’s enjoy and watch these strange Chrome videos placed in Youtube:

YOUTUBE REAL TIME FEATURES

Friday, April 24th, 2009

To say in just a few words: YouTube follows Twitter way. Google anounced a new feature called “YouTube RealTime”. It will let users see what their friends are watching, rating, commenting, etc. Nowadays just watching video on your computer’s screen means going back to non interactive TV world.

youtube_logoThe word “instant” is very important in social networking. Google lost a battle having to close “Google answers”. So, it is a clever step for serious improve of YouTube to prolong it’s life. Without instant share what are you uploading, editing, watching or encoding the future of this huge video data base would be quite misty.

Just one hint for Google: do not forget about 12 seconds of video tweet which offers “Tweetdeck”. Maybe it is time to make just good video tweet website? Will people be interested in 1 or 3 minutes videos in near future?
